Winddancer'/><title type='text'>Nasi Goreng-classic indonesian fried rice</title><content type='html'>Nasi Goreng, is a classic indonesian dish. It is fried rice, cooked in the indonesian's penchant for curry-style dishes.The use of ground peanuts is a common touch in this country's cooking style. It is nice to serve with grilled or roasted meat , some cold beer or wine and fresh tropical fruits.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nasi Goreng&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2 cups cooked rice&lt;br /&gt;1 cup shrimp, minced&lt;br /&gt;2 onions, chopped&lt;br /&gt;1 cup grated coconut (freshly grated coconut is more flavorful but one can use the dried , prepacked ones)&lt;br /&gt;1 cup ground peanuts&lt;br /&gt;butter&lt;br /&gt;cubes of fried pork (amount dependent on cook)&lt;br /&gt;1/2 lb. cubed, cooked ham&lt;br /&gt;2 eggs.&lt;br /&gt;salt, paprika&lt;br /&gt;tabasco sauce&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;chopped parsley&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fry cold leftover rice in butter, turning often until golden.&lt;br /&gt;Sprinkle paprika, a little Tabasco and some salt over rice.&lt;br /&gt;Fold in the cooked shrimp, fried onion, pork and ham. Leave in covered pan to keep warm.&lt;br /&gt;Brown coconut in a separate pan.&lt;br /&gt;Toast peanuts, put coconut and peanuts in separate side dishes.&lt;br /&gt;Beat eggs with 1 tsp. of water and make into a thin omelet.&lt;br /&gt;Fry eggs until done and cut into thin strips . Winddancer'/><title type='text'>GadoGado-an Indonesian cooked salad</title><content type='html'>Indonesia, the fabled East Indies land of over seventeen thousand islands, is a country of infinite variety and intrigue. Their cuisine is a spicy and tasty experience. Though not as multiflavored as the equally getting popular cuisine of Thailand-it does give new eaters a different dining experience.&lt;br /&gt;Gadogado is a mixture of vegetables cooked in a spicy peanut sauce-a great dish for the veggie lovers to try out. You may choose to use the sauce for other salad combinations other than this classic mix.&lt;br /&gt;You may serve this with the Indonesian inspired chicken wings that was featured in a previous article.Traditionally, this is served with Sate-the famed barbecue of indonesia and malaysia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GadoGado&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Salad:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1/2 cup cooked cabbage, shredded&lt;br /&gt;1/2 cup cooked carrots, sliced&lt;br /&gt;1/2 cup cooked cut green beans&lt;br /&gt;1/2 cup french-fried potatoes&lt;br /&gt;1 tomato, sliced&lt;br /&gt;1 cucumber, sliced&lt;br /&gt;1 cup fried soya bean cake, sliced (optional) but this is what makes this a classic-the use of tofu in this dish&lt;br /&gt;2 cooked eggs, sliced (for garnish)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sauce:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6 T. peanut butter&lt;br /&gt;1/4 tsp. garlic powder or use freshly chopped garlic (1/2 tsp.)&lt;br /&gt;1 bay leaf&lt;br /&gt;1 tsp. ground red pepper&lt;br /&gt;1 cup water&lt;br /&gt;1 tsp. sugar&lt;br /&gt;1/2 cup milk&lt;br /&gt;1 slice of lemon&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;salt to taste&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cook vegetables . Set aside and prepare sauce.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Saute garlic, bay leaf, red pepper in peanut butter. Add water, sugar and milk gradually into mixture.
